You may drop in at the Senior Center weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon, for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door minibus service Monday through Friday. Buses also run all day from the Senior Center to Sand Hill Plaza. On Fridays, the bus alternates between rides to Danbury Fair Mall and Berkshire Plaza in Danbury (to Walmart Route 6). Cost is 65¢ each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75¢ each way for out of town. *Commission on Aging will be Monday, January 24, at 5 pm.
*AARP Income Tax Assistance from February 7 to April 11 on Mondays from 9 am to noon. This is for low- and middle-income taxpayers. If married, both spouses should be present. A checklist is available at the Newtown Senior Center of what documents should be brought in.
*St Valentineâs Day bingo party will be Wednesday, February 9, at 1 pm. Wear red.
*A valentine celebration will feature the chef pasta bar, made fresh before your eyes of linguini or penne, marinara and sausage or alfredo with grilled chicken on Thursday, February 10, at noon. Call to reserve a seat.
Day Trips
*Casino gambling at Mohegan Sun Casino on Friday, January 28, which includes $15 food coupon and three $5 free bet. Cost is 30.
*On Thursday, February 17, at the Redding Senior Center, enjoy a few rounds of Wii bowling. They will be serving lunch.
*Ace in the Hole will present Carnival Around the World Mardi Gras in The Royal Manor in Garfield, N.J., on Tuesday, March 8. Lunch will be served family style. The show will be Swingin Mardi Gras. Cost is $83.
*Depart at 10 am on March 25 for Westchester Broadway theater where lunch is included. After lunch Singing in the Rain will be presented. The cost is $88.
Overnight Trips
*Celebrate Valentineâs Day at Mohegan Sun on February 10 and 11. There is a bonus package at check-in, $20 free bet or two buffets, breakfast on the second day, and depart for Mystic Cornerstone Production to see a matinee of Moonlight in Mystic. Cost is $204 single, $144 double, or $139 triple.
*Between February 25 and 27, enjoy an illuminated monument tour of National Air & Space Museum, visit the National Archives, The Newseum, and watch the UConn Women play Georgetown. Cost includes two nights at the Hampton Inn, two breakfasts, two dinners, and your tours. Cost is $391 double, $481 single, and $371 triple.
