WASHINGTON â How would you start a fire in snow? What could you eat? Where would you find shelter?
The Institute for American Indian Studies will host a two-hour Winter Survival Walk Saturday, January 22, and participants will learn the answers to all of these questions.
Primitive Skills Practitioner Jamie Leffler will lead the program, which will begin at 12:30 pm. Participants should be ready to spend a fun afternoon outdoors searching for signs of wildlife and learning basic winter survival strategies.
Cost is $8 for adults ($6 for IAIS members), and $4 for children. Connecticut educators may earn .2 CEUs for participating. Space is limited, so reservations are requested.
Call IAIS, which is at 38 Curtis Road, at 860-868-0518 for reservations and additional information.
