Mary Teresa Lardner Wlasuk, 79, previously of Newtown and Southbury, died peacefully, September 4, at home in Texas, with her husband Peter and family at her side. She was born November 1, 1932, in Port Chester, N.Y., to Hannah and Thomas Lardner.
She graduated from Port Chester High School in 1950 and married her husband of nearly 60 years on November 17, 1951. They had their six children in Port Chester before moving to Newtown in 1967.
Mrs Wlasuk worked at the Newtown Middle School cafeteria for several years and opened her home to Cub Scouts, St Rose CCD classes, and her childrenâs many friends. She and her husband worked as caretakers on estates in Greenwich for more than 20 years before retiring to Southbury.
The most important part of her life was her family, but she also cherished her quiet time left for reading and Days of Our Lives. She was especially grateful to her granddaughter, Michelle, for the care she provided these past two years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs Wlasuk is survived by their six children and spouses: Teresa and Charles Kuhn, Patricia and John Commander, Michael and Aileen Wlasuk, Kathleen Wlasuk, Ann and David Cain, and Peter and Antoinette Wlasuk; a sister, Patricia Rosa, and brother and his wife, Thomas and Pat Lardner; 12 grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, from noon to 1 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. To leave an on-line condolence go to www.honanfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are requested to Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road, Southbury CT 06488.
