Soccer Star Tracy Reportedly To Play For MLS Team
Major League Soccer (MLS) reported on Wednesday, September 12, that Newtown native Marcus Tracy has signed a contract with MLS.
The 25 year old former Newtown High School standout signed a contract and was to have found out about his new team through a lottery system on Thursday (after The Bee went to press).
The lottery system is used in Tracyâs case since he was drafted by the Houston Dynamo in the 2009 SuperDraft and offered a contract, which he turned down to join Danish Club Aalborg, according to the MLS website. Given that more than two years have passed since the Dynamo drafted the 2008 Hermann Trophy winner, the club no longer holds the MLS rights to the player.
Tracy played at Wake Forest University, where he won an NCAA championship and earned All America honors.
