To Be Represented At National Conference
The Newtown High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently took home first and third place prizes at the state leadership conference in Meriden. Approximately 500 students from schools across Connecticut participated.
President Lynn Cupero, a Newtown High School senior, was recognized as the Whoâs Who of Newtownâs chapter and will go on this July to compete in the national leadership conference in Denver, Colo.
The conferences allow students to compete in multiple categories, including career interviews, graphic design, public speaking, marketing, accounting, and related aspects of operating a successful business.
âI was in complete shock,â Lynn said. âI never expected to be the recipient of this award and I was truly honored!â
Her sister, Jenny Cupero, a sophomore, won first place in Public Speaking. Junior Kaity DiVanno won third place in Public Speaking. Adam Konneker, a senior, won third place in the Web Design division.
âThe competitions are a lot of fun,â said Jenny. âIt challenges us and lets us see what we are capable of achieving. My event, Public Speaking, really let me showcase my skills. It was nerve-wracking, but it paid off in the end!â
