Camera Club Programs Announced

Flagpole Photographers Camera Club has a pair of programs planned during upcoming weeks.

On Thursday, March 20, the club will host a general meeting and photo competition beginning at 7:30 pm. March’s assigned subject is “Birds.” Member photographers will be challenged to showcase their creativity for capturing bird photography. There will also be competitions in Black & White and Open Color.

The competitions are for members, but the public is welcome to join the meeting and hear the critiques of photographs entered into competition.

Light refreshments will be served. The program will be in the lower meeting room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

Two weeks later, on April 3, the club will host a program night featuring an open discussion and tip and tricks on shooting “Macro and Flowers.” All levels of camera enthusiasts are welcome for this hands-on event.

The program will begin with an overview of the basics of macro photography and then transition to photographing flowers. There will also will also be technical conversations for the intermediate as well as advanced photographers. Advanced photographers will be in attendance to answer questions and assist with camera settings.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring their camera and questions. The workshop starts at 7:30 pm, will also be in the library’s lower meeting room.

Flagpole Photographers is a local non-profit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members are from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from beginning novices to professional photographers.
