Renegades Baseball Scores

Newtown Renegades U9 baseball results from this past week are as follows:

Renegades 7, Bethel Wildcats 3: The Renegades took on the Wildcats in an 84 League matchup at Cleary Field on Tuesday. In the second inning, the Renegades put five runs on the board. CJ Giacin and Will Swift had RBI singles, and Connor Haywood knocked a double and Tristan Andrew slammed a triple to bring in the Renegades base runners. In the third, CJ Demers doubled and scored following two passed balls. Newtown hurlers Josh Taylor, John Godino, and Joey Rios combined to hold Bethel to three hits and had seven strikeouts.

Renegades 20, Westport 8: In 84 League play, the Renegades traveled to Coleytown Field to face off against Westport on Thursday. Over five innings of play, the Renegades’ bats exploded for 20 runs. CJ Giacin and CJ Demers each doubled, and Matt Bradbury blasted a two-run home run over the left field fence. On the mound, Connor Haywood, CJ Giacin, Tristan Andrew, and Shaine Luzietti combined for the win.

Renegades 14, Oxford 2 (District 5 First Round Game): The Renegades opened the District 5 tournament with a convincing win in four innings over Oxford at Ewald Park in Southbury on Saturday. In the bottom of the first, the Renegades scored five runs behind four straight singles from Matt Bradbury, Joey Rios, Connor Haywood, and John Godino. Shaine Luzietti followed with a double and Dillon Robinson hit a sacrifice fly to right bringing in Luzietti from third. The Renegades tacked on another two runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Joey Rios triple, and four more runs in the third. In the fourth, the Renegades added the clinching three runs to seal the game. Matt Bradbury and Connor Haywood each went 3-for-4 for the Renegades. Josh Taylor and John Godino held the visitors to two runs on four hits, while striking out six.

Renegades 12, Southbury Land Sharks 8 (District 5 Second Round Game): The Southbury Land Sharks hosted the Newtown Renegades in the second round of the District 5 9U tournament at Ewald Park in Southbury on Sunday. The Land Sharks held the Renegades scoreless in the top of the first then jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the inning. The Renegades answered with three runs in the second and another three in the third. The Land Sharks never regained the lead. At the plate, the Renegades had extra base hits from Matt Bradbury, Connor Haywood, Shaine Luzietti, Joey Rios, and Josh Taylor. Joey Rios and John Godino each threw three innings in the win.
