UConn Mentor Program For High School Students

STORRS — Applications are now available for UConn Mentor Connection. The annual, three-week, residential, summer enrichment program for academically talented high school students — candidates must be current sophomores or juniors — will take place on the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus, from July 8 to 27.

Students will participate in creative projects and cutting-edge research investigations with UConn faculty and advanced graduate students. Participants will get an in-depth look at an area of interest while getting hands-on experience on a current research or creative project under the supervision of university mentors.

While developing a collaborative and personal relationship with a mentor, students also learn about career options and get a glimpse at college life. Students participate in field trips, social events, and nonacademic activities in the evenings and on the weekends.

Applicants must be current sophomores or juniors, possess a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be ranked in the top 25 percent of their class.

Need-based financial aid is available, and scholarship applicants are required to provide a copy of their parent or guardian’s 2006 federal income tax return. Applications must be postmarked no later than May 7. For more information, contact Heather Spottiswoode at 860-486-0283 or e-mail mentorconnection@uconn.edu.
