Volunteers Sought To Help Beautify Library Grounds Sunday
Volunteers were busy sheering hedges, pruning, and removing excess mulch on Friday, October 9, the first of two set days for a library grounds beautification project.
More volunteers are still being sought for the effort’s Sunday hours, .8:30 am until 11 am, at 25 Main Street
The C.H. Booth Library Board of Trustees is seeking all gardening volunteers for the project. All ages are welcome, and should bring gardening gloves and hand tools for weeding, trimming, and general cleanup.
Newtown landscape designer Brid Craddock prepared a landscape plan for the project.
Before Margaret Brown began working on one section of the library grounds on Friday, she checked photos and project descriptions, detailing which areas need different types of work. Moments later, Ms Brown was tackling shrubs and weeds.
Across the grounds, volunteer Ellen Speirs worked with a shovel near the main entrance to the library as project overseer Julie Starkweather trimmed another area of bushes.
Ms Starkweather said anyone who is interested in volunteering, but is unable to make it to the Sunday morning session, can email paige.turner@usa.net to arrange to clean a designated portion of the library grounds when it is convenient.
