Saint Patrickâs Day To Be Celebrated

HARTFORD â The Hartford Symphony Pops! and guest conductor Gerald Steichen will present a âSt Patrickâs Celtic Celebrationâ on Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18, at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. Performances both nights will begin at 8 pm.
The extraordinary program features traditional and modern favorites from the Emerald Isle with appearances by the Irish fiddler P.V. OâDonnell, tenor Michael Brian Dunn and step dancers from the John OâKeefe School of Dance in Hamden.
The first half of the program will include traditional arrangements of âIrish Suite,â âThe Girl I Left Behind,â âThe Minstrel Boy,â âThe Wearing of the Green,â âColleen Ogh Asthoirin Mein,â âMiss McCloudâs Reelâ and âMolly on the Shore,â among other works. There will also be works of Giefer and Crouch, and a Victor Herbert Irish Rhapsody.
Following an intermission the program will continue with traditional arrangements of âMist Covered Mountains,â âLament for Martin Byrnes,â âWheels of the Worldâ and âThe Last Rose of Summer.â There will also be works of Olcott, Nugent, and selections from Lord of The Dance.
