Toddy Hill Road

Motorist William Mennillo, 53, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Ford Escort southward on Toddy Hill Road about 5 pm December 17, encountered a deer that had run onto the road and then collided with the animal, police report.

Menillo was not injured. No enforcement was taken.

Mt Pleasant Road

Motorist Douglas Strachan, 43, of Monroe was driving a 1998 Plymouth Voyager westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 9:30 pm December 21, when a deer ran onto the road, police said. Strachan attempted to avoid hitting the animal, but collided with it, police said. Strachan was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

South Main Accident

At about 9 pm December 20, motorist Laura Bilotto, 43, of 13 Johnny Appleseed Drive was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler northward on an icy South Main Street, near Park Lane, and slid into a guardrail along the right road shoulder, police report.

Bilotto was not injured. No enforcement was taken.

Camaro Crash

Motorist Monica Torres, 17, of Brookfield was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro northward on South Main Street, near Pecks Lane, about 9:30 pm December 19, when the auto went out of control on snow and ice, police said.

The vehicle slid onto the southbound road shoulder and struck some debris there, police said. Torres was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Ford Into Bush

While motorist Mariel Brown, 20, of 19 Settlers Lane was driving a 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon southward on Toddy Hill Road at about 11:40 am December 6, a vehicle that was in front of the Ford stopped, police said.

 The Ford then went off the southbound road shoulder and struck a bush near #84 Toddy Hill Road, police said. Brown was not injured. Police issued Brown a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Toyota Vs Dodge

Motorist Robin Lake, 45, of Danbury, who was driving a 1995 Dodge sedan, was stopped near 172 Mt Pleasant Road about 3 pm December 6, and was waiting to make a left turn into a parking lot, when the Dodge was struck from behind by a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by Dana Paul, 43, of Cheshire, police said. The Toyota was unable to stop due to snow and ice conditions on the road, police said.

There were no injuries or enforcement actions taken.

West Street Incident

About 7 pm December 15 near 31 West Street, an unknown northbound vehicle snagged some overhead utility lines and then drove away from the scene, police said. The utility lines dropped to the road. The abruptly-pulled utility lines also damaged a house at 31 West Street, police said.

Four-Way Intersection

Police report a two-car accident at the four-way intersection of Hattertown Road, Key Rock Road, and Poverty Hollow Road about 5:30 pm December 14. Each of the four legs of that intersection is controlled by a stop sign.

 Motorist Alexandre Borba, 37, of Mt Vernon, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Ford Escort, was southbound on Hattertown Road, and motorist Christopher Fortier, 23, of Watertown, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord, was eastbound on Poverty Hollow Road, police said.

Both motorists planned to go straight through that intersection and both motorists entered the intersection at the same time, colliding with one another, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued each driver a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.

Berkshire Road

At about 3 pm December 6, an accident occurred near #98 Berkshire Road involving a tractor- trailer truck driven by Benjamin Peace, 33, of Nashville, Tenn, and a 1996 Ford truck driven by Kevin Denton, 54, of West Haven, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Peace a written warning for failure to drive to the right on a curve.

South Main Collision

About 10:30 am December 20, motorist Michele Bird, 27, of Bethel, who was driving a 2001 Honda Civic southward near 112 South Main Street, slowed for traffic and then slid on the snowy road, went off the southbound road shoulder and struck a mailbox at that address, police said.

Bird was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.

Route 34 Accident

About 8:45 am December 20, motorist Catherine Mola, 45, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix eastward on Route 34, slowed to make a left turn, police report.

Eastbound motorist Jeanne Sheridan, 51, of Washington Depot, who was driving a 2001 Toyota RAV-4, braked but slid on the snowy road and struck the rear end of the Pontiac, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sheridan a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Off-Ramp

At about noon on December 19, at the end of eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp, motorist Lucie Rodgers, 33, of 6 River Run Road, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango, struck the rear end of a 2000 Subaru Outback driven by Elizabeth Gilbert, 46, of 41 Horseshoe Ridge Road, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Rodgers a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Slippery Road

Motorist Mary Mayer, 18, of Southbury was driving a 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan southward on a slippery Orchard Hill Road about 10 pm December 26 in snowy conditions, police said. The minivan slid down Orchard Hill Road into its intersection with Platts Hill Road and then went into a ditch, police said. Mayer was not injured in the mishap, police said.

Boulevard Accident

Motorist Daniel Cruson, 22, of 174 Hanover Road was driving a 1991 Buick LeSabre southward on The Boulevard about 6 pm December 27, when he lost control of the auto on the slippery road, struck some guardrailing and then struck some small trees, police said. Cruson was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.
