Local Man Dies Of Self-Inflicted Wounds
A local man died in Danbury Hospital on December 26, where he had been taken on the night of December 24, after he intentionally cut himself with a knife during an incident near his Brushy Hill Road home, authorities said.
Dead is Joseph Lucsky, 45, of 169 Brushy Hill Road.
Police said they responded to the Lucsky residence, which is on the corner of Brushy Hill Road and Old Town Road, about 6:20 pm December 24.
Police said they then learned that Mr Lucsky was outside the house with a rifle and was in a depressed state.
Police said they went to the home and removed Mr Lucskyâs wife, Sharon, from the premises. Ms Lucsky was not injured, according to police.
Newtown police called in state police for assistance. State police brought two police dogs to the scene. âA perimeter [of police officers] was established around the property,â police said.
â[Mr Lucsky] was located in a field behind the house with self-inflicted wounds from a knife at approximately [9 pm],â police said, adding he was conscious at the time. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Mr Lucsky to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Police Chief Michael Kehoe said the incident stemmed from a case of domestic violence at the residence and that Mr Lucsky had been handling the rifle in a threatening manner.
Mrs Lucsky had called police for aid, Chief Kehoe said, but he noted that the incident was not a hostage situation.
âItâs a very sad situationâ¦Itâs unfortunate, a very tragic incident,â the police chief said.
