Annual Meeting And Dinner Dance
The Newtown Chamber of Commerce will host its annual meeting and dinner dance on January 8, at the Stony Hill Inn, Bethel. Festivities will begin at 6 pm; formal attire is recommended.
Themed after the acclaimed musical Showboat, the dinner will offer a show-stopping performance from the Newtown High School drama club and a silent auction focusing on unique and creatively packaged items. Overall there are ten unique items on the silent auction list, plus more than 60 raffle ticket items where everyone who buys a ticket wins a prize. A sample of the silent auction items includes:
*A nighttime VIP tour of Connecticutâs Beardsley Zoo â on golf carts. A zoo official will provide the private tour and guests will be able to use their flashlights to check out the animals in their nighttime habitats. This is followed by a hotdog and hamburger barbecue on the grounds, with all the âfixings.â
*Summertime water-ski lesson.
*A cocktail cruise on Lake Zoar for six guests on a powerboat next summer.
*A Super Bowl party with a giant sub, mucho appetizers, and a bucket of beer.
