Anne R.             Nelson

Anne R. Nelson, 89, widow of the late Melvin C. Nelson, of Baldwin Road, Newtown, formerly of New Castle, Del., died December 27 in Danbury Hospital.

Mrs Nelson was born in Wilmington, Del., on June 16, 1915, a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Corliss) Silfies. A graduate of the former St Paul’s Commercial School in Wilmington, she was most recently employed as an evening receptionist at Wilmington College. After her retirement in 1992, she moved to Newtown to live with her daughter and family.

She is survived by a daughter, Susanne Zencey and her husband Carl of Newtown; two grandsons, Lt Gregory Zencey, serving in the US Air Force, and Phillip Zencey, a student at the US Air Force Academy; two sisters, Lillian Reimer of New Castle, Del., and Elizabeth von Reider of Dover, Del.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on December 30, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 801 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, Del. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 100 West 10th Street, Wilmington DE 19801.

Local arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
