4) Dan Cascone commits to play Big Ten football for the University of Wisconsin while Brennan Coakley commits to play Big Ten football for Penn State University and Marcus Tracy commits to play Division I soccer for Wake Forest University.

5) The Newtown High School girls’ swim team runs its dual meet unbeaten streak to 22 and captures its first ever South-West Conference championship.

6) The Newtown High School girls’ cross country team wins its third consecutive South-West Conference championship at Bethel High School.

7) In only her first season, Alex Konneker wins three individual titles (100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes) and shared in one relay title (4x400) at the South-West Conference girls’ track and field championship at Masuk High School in Monroe.

8) Abby Atkinson of the Newtown High School girls’ swim team wins two individual titles (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke) and shares in one relay title (200 medley relay) as the Nighthawks win their first South-West Conference title.

9) The Newtown High School baseball team has the opportunity to battle Brookfield in a South-West Conference tilt – at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, the Atlantic League home of the Bridgeport Bluefish.

10) With Ron Shimko carding an 8-over 79, the Newtown High School golf team finishes a very surprising second at the South-West Conference tournament at Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury.
