Rear-Ender

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 6:30 pm on December 28 on Berkshire Road at its intersection with High Rock Road, in which the driver who caused the crash fled the scene.

Police said a 17-year-old female motorist, who was driving a 2006 Pontiac Vibe on Berkshire Road, stopped in preparing to make a left turn onto High Rock Road.

Another motorist, who was driving a large white vehicle, possibly a van or a SUV, then struck the Pontiac from behind and drove away from the scene of the crash, police said. The girl who was driving the Pontiac was not injured, police said.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Officer William Chapman at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Botsford Crash

Motorist Nicholas Pulvino, 20, of Westport was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat sedan northward on Botsford Hill Road and was negotiating a curve north of the Housatonic Railroad overpass at about 7:20 pm on December 18, when the Volkswagen moved to the right and struck an embankment, police said.

Pulvino was not injured. Police said that Pulvino failed to maintain the proper lane.

Sandy Hook Intersection

About 4:50 pm on December 22, motorist Liberta Dalipi, 43, of 68 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry sedan southward on Washington Avenue, stopped and was waiting to turn left onto Pearl Street, when the Toyota was struck from behind by motorist Thomas Murphy, 19, of Southbury, who was driving a 1991 Jeep Cherokee SUV, police said.

Dalipi was transported to Danbury Hospital, police said. Murphy received an infraction ticket for following too closely, police said.

 

Berkshire Collision

Motorist Alexander J. Danka, Jr, 58, of 1 Crown View Drive, who was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup truck eastward near 93 Berkshire Road about 6:10 pm on December 22, encountered a deer that had entered the road, resulting in a collision, police said. Danka was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Down The Bank

Motorist Amanda Ruffles, 19, of 2-A Saw Mill Road, who was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer SUV southward on South Main Street about 7:54 am on December 23, made a left turn onto Mile Hill Road, but then slid on wet pavement, resulting in the vehicle skidding to the right and breaking through some guardcabling, police said.

The Ford then traveled down an embankment, police said. Ruffles was not injured. Police said she received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

Ford Vs Toyota

Police report that at about 11:37 am on December 23, motorist Jacinto Cabral, 75, of 43 Meadowbrook Road, who was driving a 1996 Ford truck, stopped at the intersection of Ethan Allen Road and South Main Street.

The Ford then backed into the front end of a 1990 Toyota Celica coupe driven by Nicholas Iwasczyszyn, 29, of Stratford, police report.

There were no injuries. Cabral received a written warning for a vehicular backing violation, according to police.

Wasserman Way

About 3 pm on December 23, motorist Matthew Walter, 25, of Southbury was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan westward on Wasserman Way, as Robert Burrell, 47, of New Haven was driving a 1987 International dump tuck that was hauling a trailer was traveling eastward on Wasserman Way, police report.

The Honda then drifted to the left and sideswiped the trailer that was being hauled by the International, police said.

There were no injuries. Walter received an infraction for failure to maintain the proper lane, police said.

Exit 9 Accident

State police report that motorist Jonathan Tierney, 31, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2005 Ford Focus, stopped at a stop sign at the end of westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp at about 5 pm on December 23, after which motorist David Johnston, 29, of 55 Copper Creek Circle, who was driving a 2000 Infiniti G-20, stopped behind the Ford.

The Ford moved forward, but then stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Infiniti struck the rear end of the Ford, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they verbally warned Johnston for unsafe movement.
