Sarah Elizabeth Doherty and Ryan Thomas Gottschall

James and Jennifer Doherty of West Chester, Penn., formerly of Newtown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, Arlington, Va., and Ryan Thomas Gottschall, Arlington, son of Thomas and Eileen Gottschall of Alburtis, Penn.

Ms Doherty is a 1997 graduate of Newtown High School. She received her bachelor of arts in English from Gettysburg (Penn.) College and her master’s in English literature from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. She is employed as an English teacher at The Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C.

Mr Gottschall graduated from Emmaus High School in 1997 and received his bachelor of arts in history from Gettysburg College. He is presently a full-time graduate student in the master’s of public administration program at George Washington University.

The couple will be married July 8 in the Gettysburg College Chapel.
