Republican Caucus To Elect Town Committee Members

The Republican Town Committee will meet on Tuesday, January 10, at 7 pm. This is a change in day from its regular meeting schedule.

The meeting will take place in the Newtown Senior Center Meeting Room on Riverside Road, Sandy Hook. The Republican caucus to elect Town Committee members will follow at 7:30 pm.

“We encourage all current members who wish to run for reelection and Republicans from the town at large who wish to serve on Town Committee to contact RTC Secretary Carolyn Signorelli at siggycas@yahoo.com or 241-0505 before the January 10 meeting,” said Carol Recht, RTC chairman.

The RTC will present its slate to the caucus, after which nominations may also be made from the floor. According to RTC rules, up to 50 members may be elected at the January caucus. Members serve for a two-year term.

The primary purpose of the NRTC is to encourage Republicans to run for office. Other functions are studying and supporting or opposing state legislation concerning Newtown and recommending improvements in local government. The NRTC sponsors several social events throughout the year to raise funds for Republican candidates.
