Ethel B. Connor

Former Borough Clerk And Longtime Volunteer

Ethel E. (Brauch) Connor, 84, of Main Street, died December 27 in Filosa Convalescent Home, Danbury. Mrs Connor was the wife of the late Robert W. Connor.

She was born in New York City on February 14, 1921, a daughter of George and Lillian (Poppy) Brauch.

 She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Connor, Jr, and Roger Connor, both of Newtown; a brother, Charles Schnetzer of Texas; a sister, Helen Harget of New York City; her grandchildren, Robert Connor, III, Shannon Von Hoy, Roger Connor, Jr, Eileen Connor, and Sarah Connor; and great-grandchildren, Sean Connor, Paige Connor, Erin Connor and Emilia Van Hoy. She was predeceased by a son Raymond Connor; two brothers, George and William Brauch; and a sister, Elizabeth Harget.

Mrs Connor was a resident of Newtown for more than 50 years and was very active in the community. She was assistant manager of the Union Trust Bank in Newtown for many years until her retirement in 1990. She was a longtime Cub Scout leader, a member of the Newtown Democratic Town Committee for more than 40 years, a former member of the Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers, and for many years she was clerk of the Borough of Newtown. She was also a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, at 10:30 am, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at 11 am in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 2292, Westport CT 06880.
