Occupation: I am an Ophthalmologist, Retina Specialist, practicing in Danbury and Prospect at CT Eye Consultants since 2008. I worked previously at Yale Eye Center and the VA hospital. I joined Danbury Eye Physicians in 2008, which later became CT Eye Consultants.
Family: I have been married for 25 years to Nada and we have three children: Joe, Muriel, and Anthony.
Pets: We have a Golden Retriever named Zara.
How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived in Newtown 12 years and counting...
What do you like to do in your free time? Mainly cycling and some skiing in the wintertime. I also picked up beekeeping during the lockdown of 2020.
What is your favorite book? Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It was published in 1932, and the themes remain highly prescient.
What is your favorite travel destination? Italy.
What is the best part about Newtown? All the preserves and protected open space.
What organizations are you part of in Newtown? I am part of ‘Team 26’ and ‘United Physicians of Newtown’ (UPoN). Both started in the aftermath of the 12/14 tragedy to raise awareness about gun control and mental illness.
Who or what has been the greatest influence in your life? The cultural scene of the Renaissance as it continues to define our western way of life and civilization
If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? My late grandfather, Erudite. He was a great thinker, and his influence was tremendous on me.
Who is your favorite musical artist? It’s not one artist but The Beatles.
What is your favorite TV show? Cheers and its sequel Frasier.
What is your favorite movie? It has to be The Godfather.
What is your favorite food? Pizza and beer after a bike ride.
If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose and why? To go to Florence during the Renaissance. We would still be in the dark ages and America not discovered if not for the Renaissance.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? “You will value success a lot more after a failure.”
What is something you cannot live without? My family and my bikes.
What is your proudest accomplishment? My family and my career coupled with my passion for eye care.
