Holiday Closings: New Year’s
All town offices and agencies will close at noon Thursday, December 30, and remain closed until 8 am, Monday, January 3, for the New Year’s holiday weekend.
The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will close at 11 am Friday, December 31. It will remain closed New Year’s Day, and reopen Monday, January 3, at 7 am for all permit holders. The transfer station is usually open on Monday only for contractors. It will resume that schedule after January 3.
C.H. Booth Library will close at 1 pm Thursday, December 30, and remain closed New Year’s Eve and Day. It will reopen Sunday, January 2, at noon.
Newtown’s public schools are closed through Friday, December 31. Classes will resume Monday, January 3.
Newtown Community Center will close at 4 pm December 31, and remain closed on January 1. It will reopen January 2, but there are no classes scheduled that day. Classes and full programming resume Monday, January 3.
Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices continue to operate by appointment only. Many services are being completed online. Visit portal.ct.gov/DMV for details.
There will be no regular mail delivery on January 1. It is a United States Postal Service holiday.
The December 31, 2021 issue of The Newtown Bee was printed and mailed on its regular schedule, so it should arrive in stores on Thursday afternoon and local mailboxes on Friday/New Year’s Eve.
