Antoinette Davis
“Anna” Antoinette Davis, née Anzalone, died peacefully on December 25, in Newtown, just two months shy of her 111th birthday. She was born on March 1, 1911, in Miturno, Italy, to Teresina Anzalone, née D’Amico, and “Charles” Mariano Anzalone.
Anna was a long-time resident of Connecticut, having lived at different times in Bridgeport, Southbury, and Newtown. She also spent over a decade living in Ocala, Florida.
Early in life, Anna was a member of the International Ladies Garment Union, working in the industry making everything from house dresses to suits. During the depression she helped her mother run a small sewing business out of their home, and during World War II she worked sewing parachutes for the General Electric Company.
In her later years she enjoyed line dancing and playing Mahjong with friends. She was fond of traveling and had many friends.
Anna was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Chesley; two brothers, Joseph and John; three sisters, Mary, Rose, and Evelyn; and three grandchildren, Ernest, Sandra, and Victoria.
Anna is survived by her two daughters (June and Pat), five grandchildren (Robert, Ann, Louis, Carol Ann, and Bernadette), eight great-grandchildren (Christopher, Julie, Ernest, John, Dustin, Sean, Jeffrey, and Justin), and seven great-great-grandchildren (Alex, Emma, Caroline, Cassandra, Lilliana, Alexis, and Everly).
Anna enjoyed life, always missed her husband, remained active, and never lost her sense of style. All who knew her will not forget her.
