Itâs Not Too Late For Flu Shots
BROOKFIELD â The Brookfield office of Connecticut VNA has received an additional supply of flu vaccine and will be conducting flu vaccine clinics every Wednesday and Friday for the next three weeks.
Beginning this week and continuing through Friday, January 12, anyone interested in receiving a flu shot can stop in on Wednesdays or Fridays between 1 and 3 pm at the office located at 777 Federal Road. Medicare Part B will be billed for the vaccine for anyone qualified.
Remember to bring your Medicare card and wear short sleeves under your jacket or sweater.
Influenza or âfluâ is a viral, respiratory infection that can make someone of any age ill. On an average, 20,000 people die from influenza every year.
Connecticut VNA recommends vaccination for those people who are most at risk for serious complication: those over 65 or with chronic illnesses such as heart, kidney, or lung disease, diabetes, etc should be vaccinated every year. Others who should get the vaccine are those who live with or take care of people who are at risk.
This vaccine should not be taken by anyone with an allergy to eggs or egg products, is currently ill, has a high fever, or is pregnant. Persons with a history of Guillian-Barre Syndrome should consult with their physicians before receiving the vaccination.
