GUILD HALL TO OPEN AT UBS ART GALLERY JAN 13 – 1 CUT –

NEW YORK CITY — A new exhibition at The UBS Art Gallery in midtown Manhattan will celebrate the rich legacy of one of America’s most influential art communities. On view from January 13 to March 25, “Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts, Selections from the Permanent Collection” will feature works by artists who lived on the East End of Long Island, as well as by artists who were inspired by their visits to the area.

The exhibition will feature more than 80 works dating from 1878 to 1994 by Thomas Moran, Childe Hassam, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Jimmy Ernst, Roy Lichtenstein, Chuck Close, Joe Zucker, David Salle and more of the nation’s leading artists. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed media works will trace the progression of art movements in America from Impressionism to Abstract Expressionism to experiments by contemporary artists in the 1980s and 1990s.

The UBS Art Gallery is in the UBS Building at 1285 Avenue of the Americas. The gallery is on the ground floor of the building and exhibition hours are Monday–Friday, 8 am until 6 pm. Admission is free. For information, 212-713-2885 or www.ubs.com.

Slug: Flamingo Promotions To Present Spring Long Island Paper And Ephemera Show

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Flamingo Promotions announces the Spring Long Island Paper and Ephemera show, which returns to the Camelot Exhibition Hall on Sunday, February 27.

Bigger and better than last year, the show will feature more than 40 exhibitors presenting a wide array of vintage ephemera, including au-tographs, advertising, prints, posters, photography, books, magazines, maps, documents, world’s fair memorabilia, comics, puzzles, political, postcards, trade cards, view cards, sheet music, movie memorabilia, games and more.

Some of the featured presenters include: Albert Washington of Hyde Park, N.Y., who will exhibit antiquarian maps and documents; Beaux and Isabelle Francoise of Paris, Art Deco posters, prints and ephemera; Carol and Jim Gaughran of Eaton’s Neck, N.Y., political memorabilia; Well Read Books of Northport, N.Y., out-of-print books; Keith Stupell, Ltd, of New York City, vintage awards and militeriana; Joe Margolis of Philadelphia, vintage posters, sheet music and advertising; and Poster World of Fair Lawn, N.J., vintage movie posters. These and many more dealers of vintage works on paper will be found at this event.
