Icy Parmalee

About 6:10 pm December 7, motorist Emile Waite, 73, of 66 Parmalee Hill Road was traveling northward, driving a 2004 Subaru Outback up a steep hill on an icy Parmalee Hill Road, when the vehicle slid backward on the road, police said.

Waite turned his steering wheel in order to avoid striking another vehicle which was behind him, police said.  The Subaru slid backward, striking a tree, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Waite for traveling too fast for conditions.

   

Court Order

Police report that they arrested Luis Munguia, 23, of Bridgeport on the afternoon of December 19, charging him with violation of a protective order.

Police said that Munguia had illegally contacted an unidentified victim via telephone, which was in violation of a standing protective court order in place against Munguia.

Police held Munguia on $20,000 bail for a December 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Audi Vs Hummer

About 4:16 pm on December 7, motorist Heather Barry, 36, of Wilton was driving a 2006 Audi convertible northward on Hattertown Road, as motorist Chelsea Monda, 22, of Easton was driving a 2007 Hummer SUV southward there, police said.

The two vehicles then collided. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Cobbler’s Mill Incident

Police report that on the night of December 19, a mother and a daughter at a Cobbler’s Mill Road residence became involved in a verbal dispute, after which the daughter struck the mother.

Police went to the home to investigate and then charged the 17-year-old girl with second-degree breach of peace. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

The girl made a written promise to appear December 20 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

  

South Main Crash

 About 4 pm December 7 in icy/snowy conditions, motorist Thomas Droleskey, 56, of Olivebridge, NY, who was driving a 2001 Ford near 332 South Main Street, slid on the roadway and collided with a parked, disabled 1998 Volkswagen, which was driven by Andrew Powers, 21, of Stratford, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Droleskey for improper passing.

Slippery Road

Police report a two-vehicle accident in snowy conditions about 2 pm on December 13 at the intersection of Meadow Brook Road and Huntingtown Road.

Motorist Adam Seferi, 20, of 20 Meadow Brook Road, who was driving a 1989 Jeep Cherokee northward on Huntingtown Road, attempted to turn right onto eastbound Meadow Brook Road, but went into a skid and then collided head-on with motorist Eduard Abukhovich, 28, of Winston-Salem, NC, who was driving a 2001 Honda Civic coupe westward on Meadow Brook Road, police said.

 There were no injuries. Seferi received an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions, police report.

Icy Route 34

About 9 am December 19 on an icy Route 34, motorist Marie Tabor, 33, of 44 Great Quarter Road, who was driving a sport-utility vehicle, collided with the rear end of a sedan driven by Laura Davi, 45, of 30 Lyrical Lane, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Tabor for following too closely.

Chevrolet Struck

About 10 am December 19, an unknown vehicle backed into an unoccupied 2000 Chevrolet Impala sedan which was parked in front of 2 Currituck Road, police said.

The impact damaged the Chevrolet. The driver who caused the accident drove away without notifying the Chevrolet’s owner or the police. Police are investigating and ask anyone information of the incident to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

Church Hill/Queen

Motorist Mary Paramanathatn, 48, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy station wagon westward on Church Hill Road near Queen Street, about noon on December 20, stopped for traffic conditions, according to police.

Westbound motorist Nicholas Petrone, 39, of Westport, who was driving a 2005 Honda Element SUV, attempted to stop but slid on the wet pavement, colliding with the Subaru’s rear end, police report.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Petrone for following too closely.

Pole Down

About noon on December 13, in snowy conditions, an unknown driver who was traveling northward on Old Bethel Road, struck a utility pole, knocking down the pole and its attached wiring, police said.

The vehicle, which may have been a black Honda sedan, the drove away, police said.

The incident resulted in traffic detours.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the offending driver’s identity to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

Snowy Crash

About noon December 13, motorist Ruth Hutchinson, 61, of 8 Split Rock Road, who was driving a 1999 Volvo S-70 sedan southward on a snowy Hattertown Road, attempted to turn right onto Eden Hill Road, but slid into a stop sign at the two roads’ intersection, according to police.

Hutchinson was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

MV Violation

Police said that on the night of December 19, they received a report that a motorist was driving erratically on Pole Bridge Road, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they found motorist Diana Balkun, 20, of Ansonia in the Riverside section and then investigated, charging her with driving with a suspended license.

After processing the case, police released Balkun on $100 bail for a January 3 court appearance.

DUI Charge

Police report that early on the morning of December 23, they stopped motorist Gina Cavaliere, 18, of 90 Hattertown Road on Queen Street for a motor vehicle violation at the intersection of Queen Street and Glover Avenue.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Cavaliere with driving under the influence and with failure to obey a stop sign.

After she posted $50 bail, police released her for a January 8 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

Multiple Charges

Late on the night of December 23, motorist Sarah Lewis, 27, of 4 Shepaug Road was stopped on Bear Hills Road for a motor vehicle violation, police report.

After investigating, police charged Lewis with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under suspension, failure to obey a stop sign, and failure to drive to the right.

Police released Lewis from custody on $100 bail for a January 8 court appearance.

Botsford Crash

Police report a two-car head-on accident at the hazardous intersection of Botsford Hill Road and Button Shop Road about 8:30 am December 17. The incident also involved a noncontact vehicle, police said.

Involved in the crash were motorist Marleigh Sullivan, 17, of Littlebrook Lane, who was driving a 2001 Ford sedan, and motorist John P. Curry, Jr, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2001 Chrysler convertible, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sullivan an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign and also a written warning for failure to carry a driver’s license. Police gave Curry an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Toddy Hill Road

A two-vehicle accident took place about 9:50 am on December 20 on Toddy Hill Road, in front of the driveway entrance for Ashlar of Newtown, police said.

The accident involved motorist Leigh Graham, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Volvo S-70 convertible, and motorist James Bradshaw, 78, of Carmel, N.Y., who was driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Graham received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

DUI Arrest

Police said that at about 2 am on December 23, they spotted motorist Jonathan Sutkitis, 31, of Waterbury driving in the wrong lane on Wasserman Way, so they stopped him to investigate.

After giving him sobriety tests, police charged Sutkitis with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Sutkitis was released from custody on $100 bail for a January 10 court appearance.

School Bus

About 2:20 pm December 18, a school bus carrying 14 passengers was involved in an accident with a sedan on Black Bridge Road, police said. None of the 14 school bus passengers were injured in the minor collision, police said.

Police said that a school bus driven by Carey Schierolh, 51, of 6 Shady Rest Boulevard was northward on Black Bridge Road and was negotiating a slight curve to the left, as a southbound 2004 Toyota Matrix sedan driven by Sarah Minor, 25, of 4 Crows Nest Lane was negotiating that curve from the opposite direction.

The Toyota slid on the snowy road surface and collided with the bus, causing minor damage to both vehicles, police said.

Police verbally warned Minor for traveling too fast for conditions.
