FAIRFIELD âOn Sunday, January 20, brides-to-be from across the state will converge on the Burr Homestead, located at 739 Old Post Road in Fairfield, where the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County (JLEFC) will be hosting its 2nd annual Designer Bridal Gown Sample Sale. The fundraising will be open from 10 am to 4 pm.
Bridal salons in Connecticut, specializing in designer bridal apparel, will be represented. Bridal apparel by top designers Monique Lhuillier, Anne Barge, Paloma Blanca, Melissa Sweet, Lazaro, Romona Keveza, and many others, will be represented. The gowns and dresses are store samples that have never been worn. Most of the gowns will be discounted by 40 to 80 percent from full retail prices.
Fifty percent of the sale proceeds of this event will be donated to the Bridgeport Childcare Center Project, an 11,000 square foot non-profit childcare facility in the south end of Bridgeport which the JLEFC will build in conjunction with the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA. The facility, designed to serve families in need, will provide quality, easily accessible childcare and early childhood education programs which will positively impact the lives of over 100 pre-K children a year and enable parents to obtain and retain gainful employment. Together, the JLEFC and YMCA will serve as active participants in the development of the facility, including its fundraising activities.
The JLEFC is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Communities represented by the JLEFC include Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Newtown, Redding, Shelton, Southport, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston and Westport.
