NEW YORK CITY â An ongoing exhibition at the Morgan Library and Museum highlights masterworks from four of the Morganâs six collecting areas â medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, printed books and bindings, literary and historical manuscripts and museum manuscripts and books.
âHighlights from the Morganâs Collections,â demonstrates the nature and scope of one of the worldâs greatest repositories of artistic, literary, musical and historical works. Objects will change approximately every three months to accommodate the exhibition of as wide an array as possible of the Morganâs vast and eclectic holdings.
The exhibition includes objects that the Morganâs curators regard as especially outstanding, as well as representative of the collectionsâ strengths. Within this ongoing exhibition, there will always be a sampling of the Morganâs oldest, rarest and most valuable items.
The Morgan Library and Museum, housed in a complex of buildings at 225 Madison Avenue and 36th Street, was the private library of financier Pierpont Morgan, one of the preeminent collectors and cultural benefactors in the United States.
