CHERRY GALLERY, Pine Plains, N.Y. — A pair of exceptional rustic chairs, an armchair and a rocking chair, with twig frames and elaborate burl decoration. They are from the Hudson Valley and date circa 1900.

 

DAVID WHEATCROFT, Westboro, Mass. — This rare carousel goat by Charles Looff is in the original paint, circa 1880, and measures 58 inches high.

 

NATHAN LIVERANT and SON ANTIQUES, Colchester, Conn. — Portrait of a young girl with peaches, attributed to Margaret Byron Doyle (1800–1856), or her father, William M.S. Doyle (1769–1828), both of Boston. This oil on panel dates 1825–45.

 

STEPHEN B. O’BRIEN, JR, FINE ARTS, Boston — Hudsonian curlew from Nantucket, Mass., circa 1890, rare hollow three-piece construction, lightly hit by shot, one of only two curlews by this maker known to exist.
