Hendrik Bagmeyer
Hendrik Bagmeyer, 91, longtime resident of Newtown, passed away December 25 at River Glen in Southbury.
He was the husband of Catharina Velthuizen Bagmeyer of Newtown. The Bagmeyers immigrated to Newtown in 1956 from Amsterdam, Netherlands, where Hendrik was born October 24, 1933, to Hendrik and Trijntje Bagmeyer.
Hendrik worked at his father’s florist shop before joining the Marine Corps in Amsterdam. After immigrating he worked at Danbury Block Company as shop steward, driving a fork lift. He also worked for many years at Judd’s Flowers, and Danbury Volkswagen Audi as service manager until retirement.
He was predeceased by his daughter Catherine Edwards; and a brother, Albert Bagmeyer.
He is survived by his loving wife Catharina, to whom he would have been married 72 years on January 8. He is also survived by his daughter Trijntje and her fiancé Robert Norton of Brookfield; one grandson, Kris Green of Southbury; one great-granddaughter, Kallie Green; his brother Wiegert of the Netherlands; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends in the United States and the Netherlands.

Friends may call Sunday, January 5, from 1 to 4 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.
