Early Deadlines, Holiday Closings For New Year’s

The next issue of The Newtown Bee will have early deadlines due to the New Year’s holiday. The print edition of January 3, 2020, will be mailed on its regular schedule.

Real Estate Display ads must be received by 10 am Monday, December 30, to be included in the print edition of January 3.

Regular Display ads are also due at that time.

Classified ads for that issue will be due by 1 pm Tuesday, December 31.

Items for the Business, Education (including Birthday Cake), Enjoy, Health, and Religion pages must be received by noon Monday, December 30.

General news items and Community Calendar listings must be received by 4 pm Monday.

Letters to the Editor must be received by noon Tuesday, December 31.

The office of The Newtown Bee will close at 3 pm New Year’s Eve. The office will be closed New Year’s Day, and then reopen at 8 am Thursday, January 2.

Holiday Closings

The transfer station will close at 11 am Tuesday, December 31. It will reopen on Thursday, January 2, at 7 am.

According to the Town, recycling normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on New Year’s Eve. Recycling normally picked up on Wednesday will be picked up on Thursday, recycling normally picked up on Thursday will be picked up on Friday, and recycling normally picked up on Friday will be picked up on Saturday.

C.H. Booth Library will close at 1 pm on New Year’s Eve, and remain closed on New Year’s Day. It will reopen January 2 at 9:30 am.

Newtown’s schools are on holiday break this week. Classes are scheduled to resume on January 2.

FAITH Food Pantry will be open New Year’s Eve on its regular schedule, 9:30-11:30 am. It will also be open from 6 to 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 2, for its regular evening session.

New Year’s Day is a United States Postal Service holiday, so there will be no mail delivery.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle offices will be closed New Year’s Day. They will open at 9:15 am January 2.
