Under Christmas trees in the glow of decorative street lamps, carolers spent time filling the quiet night with song December 20.

Trinity Productions for the second year in a row put on its “Night of Song,” as a small gathering of guests gathered last Saturday night in Sandy Hook Center to spread their holiday cheer.

Organizers Cindy Miller and Sandra Wrobel welcomed guests gathered in The Glen, where they put out a table of treats and cookies.  Guests arrived and picked up copies of songs and lyrics, including the Hawaiian Christmas song “Mele Kalikimaka.” Gathering beneath a streetlamp strung with greens and white lights, Ms Miller said, “We decided to bring joy to the community.”

All were welcome to join the night’s caroling.

In addition to Ms Miller and Ms Wrobel, participants include Theresa Chach, Maria Arena, Veronica Marr, Barbara Richards, and Reet Lubin.

“Music is therapeutic,” Ms Miller said. “It is healing and opens you up and connects you in a different way. It makes you feel happy.”

The women and several men were joined by friends who stood before a large image of a dove, and lent their voices to the cold night. As the streetlight turned red, motorists rolled down windows to catch a moment of sounds of the season.

Trinity Productions (TrinityProduction.org) is a Newtown-based nonprofit. Members hope to make the caroling an annual event.
