MANCHESTER, N.H. â The Currier Museum of Art is seeking volunteer docents for the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Zimmerman House. Docent training sessions will be held at the museum on Saturdays, beginning February 5, and will continue through April.
Volunteers will become acquainted with the history and ongoing preservation of the Zimmerman House and will also cover how the house was designed and built, background on Frank Lloyd Wright and information on the lives of the houseâs only occupants, Dr Isadore and Lucille Zimmerman. Information about Nineteenth and Twentieth Century architecture, and how the Zimmerman House fits into the stateâs architectural history will also be a part of the course.
Training is limited to 20 new applicants, after a short interview. Anyone interested in becoming a Zimmerman House docent should contact Zimmerman House Site Administrator Hetty Startup at 603-669-6144, ext 125, or email hstartup@currier.org.
