George John Miller, 87, of Oxford, the beloved husband of Dolores Joan Dowd Miller, died peacefully December 22 at St Mary Hospital in Waterbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Peekskill, N.Y., on May 1, 1930, the loving son of Maude (Binder) and John Miller.

His loving family, in addition to his wife Dolores, includes his caring sons and their spouses, Timothy G. and Nancy Miller of Sandy Hook, Mark G. and Mary Miller of Rye, N.Y., and Jeffrey G. and Susan Miller of Chicago, Ill.; ten cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Douglas, Deidre, Andrew, Tyler, Katie, Jaime, Lindsey, Robert, and Samantha; and several nieces and nephews, who survive him.

His brothers, Thomas and Constantine Miller, predeceased him.

Mr Miller was a devout communicant of St Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford. He was a graduate of St Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., where he played football and served as the president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

He was the retired plant manager for Pepperidge Farm of Norwalk and Willard, Ohio, and he previously worked for Standard Brands of Peekskill, N.Y.

Mr Miller served with pride and honor in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and was a reservist from 1956 to 1962. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing.

His loved ones say that he will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in their hearts.

Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour, on Wednesday, December 27, from 4 until 7 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Mr Miller's Life will be conducted on Thursday, December 28, at 10 am, at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Full Military Honors will be accorded following the Mass. Interment will be in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery, Peekskill, on Friday, December 29, at 11 am.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Kidney Foundation, through the funeral home.
