Toyota vs Chevy
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Queen Street and Church Hill Road about 9:15 am on December 16.
The accident involved motorist Michael Stoltz, 42, of 23 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 2012 Toyota Sienna minivan, and motorist Nemecio Guerrero, Jr, 34, of Bethel, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet G-3500 van, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave Stoltz a written warning for improper passing and also verbally warned Guerrero for improper signaling.
Slippery Conditions
At about 1:15 pm on December 17, motorist Latoya Riley, 23, of Bridgeport was driving a 2010 Honda Civic sedan southward on Botsford Hill Road, near Button Shop Road, when she lost control of the vehicle and skidded onto the right road shoulder, striking a snowbank, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Riley for traveling too fast for conditions.
Yellow ATV Driver Sought
At about 3:50 pm on December 17, a local woman was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata sedan northward on Botsford Hill Road, near Toddy Hill Road, when a person who was riding a yellow all-terrain vehicle (ATV) struck the Hyundai and then drove away, police said.
The woman was not injured. Police ask anyone who knows the identity of the ATV driver to contact Officer Scott Ruszczyk at the police station, 203-426-5841.
Exit 11 Ramp Accident
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the end of Interstate 84’s Exit 11 off-ramp about 5:46 pm on December 17.
Motorist Daniel Fandrick, 35, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza, came to stop at the end of the ramp and was then struck from behind by motorist Eduardo DeOliveira, 43, of Baltimore, Md., who was driving a 2010 Honda CRV SUV, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Lightpost Damaged
Police report that at about 8:10 pm on December 17, driver Thomas Pendergast, 46, of New Milford, who was driving a town-owned 2003 Ford F-550 truck with a plow attached, was clearing a parking lot of snow at Reed Intermediate School at 3 Trades lane, when he backed up into a lightpost, damaging it. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Too Fast For Conditions
Motorist Anne Penney, 47, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Impreza westward on Interstate 84, about 100 feet east of the Parmalee Hill Road overpass, at about 10:45 pm on December 17, spun out on the highway and then entered the median, making contact with some guardrailing there, state police said.
Penney was not injured. State police issued Penny a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Attempted Burglary
Police report they are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred at a home on Great Hill Road near its intersection with Stone Fence Lane at about 11:20 am on December 18.
The would-be burglar drove down the property’s driveway and then attempted to enter the house through a rear window, police said.

Honda vs Deer
Motorist Kimberly Zemo, 42, of 35 Cold Spring Road was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot SUV northward near 206 Brushy Hill Road at about 5:17 pm on December 18, when the vehicle collided with a deer, according to police.
Neither Zemo nor three passengers were injured. Police took no enforcement.
Flying Ice
On December 19, motorist John Stephan, 65, of Florida, was driving a 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan westward on Interstate 84, about one-half mile west of Exit 9, when some ice flew off the top of a tractor-trailer trailer truck in front of the Toyota and hit the Toyota’s windshield, cracking it, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said they issued tractor-trailer truck driver, Baljinder Grewal, 44, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, an infraction for failure to secure a load.
Flagpole Crash
About 11 am on December 20, motorist Jennifer Ciuccoli, 68, of Prospect, who was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan, was westbound on Church Hill Road and then stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Main Street, police said.
The Pontiac then attempted to turn left to enter southbound Main Street, but collided head-on with the Main Street flagpole, police said.
Ciuccoli was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Evading
Police report that a Massachusetts man who was driving a 2011 Ford Taurus sedan about 5:20 pm on December 20, attempted to make a left turn from westbound Church Hill Road into the parking lot for the Blue Colony Diner, but as he was doing so, an unknown eastbound vehicle struck the Ford and then drove away.
The Massachusetts man was not injured. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact investigating Officer Scott Ruszczyk at the police station, 203-426-5841.
Hanover Road Collision
A two-vehicle collision occurred near 16 Hanover Road about 10 am on December 21.
Police said motorist Anna Maher, 66, of 17 Papoose Hill Road was driving a 2009 Volkswagen Touareg SUV southward on Hanover Road, as motorist Fernando Moreno-Lopez, 39, of 17 Papoose Hill Road was driving a 1999 Dodge 1500 pickup truck northward there.
The Volkswagen crossed over the road’s centerline while negotiating a curve and collided with the Dodge, police said.
Maher received an infraction for failure to keep to the right on a curve, police report. Moreno-Lopez received an infraction for driving without a license, police said.
Sign Stolen
Police report that sometime between 7:30 pm on December 21, and 10 am on December 22, someone stole a standing folding sign, also known as a sandwich-board sign, from in front of Bella Nails & Spa at Plaza South at 266 South Main Street in Botsford. The sign’s value is about $200.

Evading Responsibility
Police report that sometime overnight on December 21–22, a motorist who was driving an unknown blue vehicle crashed into a stone wall in front of 101 Walnut Tree Hill Road, knocking down an about 20-foot-long section of that wall. The driver then left the scene.
Based on evidence, the vehicle had been westbound on Acorn Drive and did not stop at a stop sign, skidding through its intersection with Walnut Tree Hill Road and then crashing into the wall.
Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them.
Great Ring Road
Motorist Carolyn Bloomberg, 75, of 13 Lyrical Lane was driving a 2001 Honda Accord sedan southward near 50 Great Ring Road at about 2 pm on December 22, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the northbound curb, after which the auto came to rest against some trees, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Second-Degree Harassment
Police said that at about 4:26 pm on December 22, they went to the residence of Allison Payne, 52, of 8 Glover Avenue and served a warrant against her, charging her with second-degree harassment in connection with a past incident.
After processing, police released Payne on a written promise to appear in court on January 7.
Highway Crash
State police said that motorist Tefta Kreka, 44, of Oakville was driving a 2003 Mazda Tribute SUV eastward on Interstate 84, just west of the Exit 9 off-ramp, when Kreka veered to the right and struck some metal-beam guardrailing along the right shoulder of the off-ramp at about 5:37 pm on December 22.
Neither Kreka nor three passengers were injured. Enforcement information was not available.
Sugar Street Crash
Motorist Bruce Clark, 62, of Bethel was driving a 1999 GMC K-1500 pickup truck westward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Head O’ Meadow Road, about 7:56 pm on December 22, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the vehicle went off the right side of the street and struck a utility pole, police said.
The truck then rolled over about two times and came to rest on an embankment alongside the road, police said. Clark was extricated from the wreckage by Newtown Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters, after which he was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Elm Drive
During the overnight of December 19–20, someone illegally entered an unspecified number of unlocked vehicles that were parked in the Elm Drive area, police report. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the illegal entries to contact investigating police Officer Matthew Wood at the police station.
