Woman’s Club Fundraiser Will Benefit Others

In The Dressing Room, a lady’s fashion store on South Main Street, hosted an evening of fun for Newtown Woman’s Club on December 16.

Accessories, scarves, shoes, blouses, sweaters, jeans and other items of clothing were shown to the women during a reception held from 7 to 9 pm. All purchases during the evening, and for the two days following, were totaled at the end of the fundraiser and a ten percent donation from those proceeds was made to the Woman’s Club.

Newtown Woman’s Club is a nonprofit club whose members meet monthly for lunch and a program at various restaurants.

Money raised by the club through the sale of the Annual Pewter Christmas Ornament, Boo Boxes, and various other fundraisers — including the recent production of an original play by Woman’s Club member Marianne Scanlon — is divided between local groups needing funds. Club members also participate in the annual food drive and donations for the Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill and the Women’s Center in Danbury.

Anyone who would like to know more about Newtown Woman’s Club contact either Yvonne Kopins (426-6345) or Marilyn Alexander (426-6340), co-presidents for more information.
