Due to an editing error, a comment from Public Works Director Fred Hurley in a Newtown Bee report about flooding at Bridgeport Hall was paraphrased inaccurately. The December 19 story originally stated: Mr Hurley admitted the several inches of rain falling in a matter of hours after the waterproofing was removed by Claris crews would have caused some water intrusion into Bridgeport Hall regardless, and that in the future âeveryone needs to work better together.â
The sentence should have read: Mr Hurley admitted that several inches of rain falling in a matter of hours would have caused some water intrusion into Bridgeport Hall regardless, and that in the future âeveryone needs to work better together.â
A story in the same edition about Parks & Recreation commissioners wanting CIP funds reinstated for improvements to the departmentâs maintenance facility originally stated: During deliberations December 8, the Board of Finance voted to cut $350,000 of the $700,000 allocated next year to complete interior renovations to its maintenance facility.
On December 8, however, the Board of Finance voted to cut the entire request for $700,000. Parks & Recreation Commission Chairman Ed Marks appeared before the council December 17 requesting that $350,000 of the $700,000 be reinstated to bring the facility up to code.
