Bald Eagle Observation Area To Open Dec. 27

SOUTHBURY — The Shepaug Bald Eagle Observation Area will open for its 24th season beginning on December 27. The Observation Area is run by FirstLight Power Resources, owner and operator of the Housatonic River Project hydroelectric facilities.

Observation times are Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays between 9 am and 1 pm from December 27, 2008, through March 11, 2009.

Although admission is free, advance reservations are required; call toll-free 800-368-8954 between 9 am and 3 pm Tuesdays through Fridays. Visitors should dress warmly since the observation area is unheated and bring binoculars if possible.
