NVCC To Offer New Business Courses
WATERBURY â In response to demand, Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) will offer several new business and criminal justice courses for the Spring 2001 semester.
The Business and Professional Ethics course will focus on moral issues that can arise in the business world. Relevant case studies form the basis for discussion, debate, and writing. Topics include whistle blowing, privacy, work place safety, discrimination, affirmative action, and product safety.
The Spreadsheet Applications in Business course is a distance learning class. Distance learning classes are offered through a combination of printed course materials, Internet, CD-ROM, and e-mail, and may include face-to-face sessions. It will utilize IBM compatible machines and a Windows environment. Topics covered in the class will include graphics, macros, data table operations, advanced formulas, and functions and menus.
Also new in the distance learning format is Legal Aspects of Security. It traces the development of the legal aspects of private security in the United States.Â
Finally, the criminal justice course Information Warfare and Security traces the development of information warfare as it relates to the computer environment.Â
