Poetry Reading By Polly Brody At Booth Library
Poetry Reading By Polly Brody At Booth Library
The public is invited to an author reception and poetry reading with former longtime Newtown resident Polly Brody. On Sunday, January 10, at 2 pm, at C.H. Booth Library, Ms Brody will read from her new collection of poetry, Stirring Shadows.
âIn Stirring Shadows, Polly Brody looks with an unflinching eye upon many kinds of darkness: evil, illness, loss, betrayal, separation, death and, in language that is sure, searing, lyrical, and spare, cracks the safe of these hard realities for the gold cached within them,â said fellow poet Susan Deborah King.
After the reading, refreshments will be served, and books will be available for purchase. RSVP by calling the library at 203-426-4533 or sign up online at CHBoothLibrary.org. Two earlier books, At the Flowerâs Lip and The Burning Bush, both signed by the author, are currently available for purchase at the second floor circulation desk, with all proceeds going to benefit the library, thanks to Ms Brodyâs generosity.
