‘Messiah’ Community Sing, Sunday

ROXBURY — The Shepaug Friends of Music will present its Fifth Annual Messiah Community Sing on Sunday, December 27, at 4 pm, at Roxbury Congregational Church, 24 Church Street.

The event will feature four soloists and a community chorus accompanied by a string quartet, organ, trumpet, harpsichord and timpani, all under the direction of returning conductor Christopher Shay.

The soloists this year are Kimberlee Baron, soprano; Nicole Thorpe, alto; Sean Fallon, tenor and Corey Gaudreau, bass.

Musicians for the event include Larry Deming and Kate O’Brien on violin, George Wetstone on Viola, Mary Costanza on cello, Charlie Van Kirk on Timpani, Kirk Dulaney on Trumpet and Sandy Kleisner on harpsichord and organ.

Local singers and choral groups are urged to participate.  For this event, the community is the chorus.

Admission is free to the public and Schirmer scores may be purchased at the door for $15.

The Shepaug Friends of Music is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster an appreciation of music among elementary, middle and high school students who reside in or attend school within the Shepaug Valley region, through training and performance that goes beyond the opportunities available through existing educational curriculum.
