Organizers for The 2022 Newtown Arts Festival have announced a competition with a $1,000 award for the artist whose work is chosen as the festival’s signature art.

Entering its 10th year, Newtown Arts Festival celebrates the arts in the region with a weekend of music, art, dance, theater, crafts, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden. The winning art will represent the festival on posters, T-shirts, and advertising.

The competition is open to all area artists. Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, the sponsor of the festival, will also be reaching out to artists who have previously worked with the commission or who have been awarded grants from the commission.

The 2022 festival is scheduled for the weekend of September 16-18.

On hiatus during the 2020 Pandemic, Newtown Arts Festival roared back in 2021 with a record number of artisans, attendees, and sponsors.

Festival Chair Barbara Snyder said she and others are already “looking forward to a festival that builds on last year’s success.”
