Three-Vehicle Crash, Evading Driver
Police report a three-vehicle accident in which the motorist who caused the collision left the scene of the crash, evading responsibility for the incident.
At about 10:43 am on December 20, a Newtown man who was driving a 1999 Toyota SUV northward on South Main Street and was approaching its intersection with Botsford Hill Road and Meadowbrook Road, slowed for a red traffic signal, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by a northbound white Nissan Altima or Maxima with Connecticut marker plates, police said.
Due to that impact, the Toyota was pushed forward, striking the rear end of a northbound 1999 Ford pickup truck driven by a Newington man, police said.
The Nissan driver then left the scene. There were no injuries.
Police ask anyone with information about who was driving the white Nissan to contact investigating Officer John McCluskey at the police station, 203-426-5841 or john.mccluskey@newtown-ct.gov.
