Miles & Mary Grace Carpenter

Mary Grace Ober and Miles William Carpenter were married by the Reverend Craig Mowrey on September 18, 2010. The marriage ceremony was performed at Newtown Meeting House, and then the newlyweds walked from one historic building to another, joining their guests for a reception in The Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall.

The bride was given into marriage by her father. Her parents are Garry and Jennifer Ober of Newtown.

For her wedding day Mary selected a white strapless chiffon gown, and carried an arrangement of late summer wildflowers.

Her maid of honor was her sister, Bethany Ober of State College, Penn. Bridesmaids were Claire Ober, another sister, a student at Duke University; and Elisa van Buskirk, a student at the University of Vermont, who has been the bride’s best friend since first grade.

Elizabeth Gorham, a cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

The attendants wore blue and white knee-length dresses and carried bouquets of yellow daisies.

Miles is the son of Jill and Harold Carpenter of Glastonbury. His best man was his brother-in-law, Brian Bhuta, and his ushers were Patrick Ledbetter of Simsbury; a cousin, Sam Carpenter; and Matthew Orrichio of Storrs, a friend of the bride and groom.

Mary Grace is a member of Newtown High School’s Class of 2006. She is also a graduate of the University of Connecticut, having earned her degree in human development and family studies earlier this year.

Miles graduated from Glastonbury High School in 2004. He received a degree in actuarial science, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut in 2008. He is employed as an actuary at The Hartford Insurance Company in Hartford.

Following a honeymoon in Barbados, the Carpenters have returned to their home in Storrs.
