Local Civil War  Stories Wanted

WASHINGTON GREEN — The Gunn Memorial Museum is preparing a major exhibit for 2011 to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. Approximately 85 men from Washington served in the Civil War and over 22 sacrificed their lives to preserve the Union.

The museum is seeking living descendants of Washington’s Civil War soldiers. They would like to hear about the military service of ancestors and feature them in the exhibit.

The museum is also interested in borrowing Civil War artifacts, memorabilia, pictures, documents, letters, uniforms, swords and guns. Exhibition organizers would like to hear from the public no later than January 10; call 860-868-7756 or send email to gunnmuseum@sbcglobal.net.
