CT Master Chorale Announces Auditions

SOUTHBURY — The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, announces auditions for its upcoming spring concert season.

CMC, founded and directed by Ms Heidrich, is a premiere ensemble of 55 high-caliber vocalists with a precise blend and balance. Its concert season consists of three performances: the Holiday Prelude Concert in November plus two Masterwork concerts in March and May. The holiday concerts are accompanied by the CMC brass and percussion ensemble, and spring concerts are accompanied by The Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

The chorale is in its 12th season and in its short history the group has experienced exciting moments and attained many honors, a favorite of which was having been invited to perform at the White House in December 2002 for invited guests of the White House, including White House staff and dignitaries, friends and family of President and Mrs Bush, cabinet members, and international leaders.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings in Southbury and begin on January 4.

The remaining concerts for 2010-11 will be in March, when CMC will present K. Lee Scott’s Requiem and Mack Wilberg’s “My Song in the Night”; and the May concert, “Around the World in 80 Minutes - Part II,” which will open with the official theme of the 2002 Winter Olympics, “Call to Champions” by John Williams. The program will also feature music from America, Argentina, Canada, Cuba, England, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, New Zealand, Romania, Scotland, and South Africa.

Both concerts will be at St Rose of Lima in Newtown and accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.
