Set in the wilds of suburban New Jersey, Kimberly Akimbo is a hilarious and heart-rending play about a teenager with a rare condition that causes her body to age faster than it should. When she and her family flee Secaucus under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam artist aunt, her own mortality and, most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love.

Keir Hansen, who recently appeared in The Night Before Christmas, will step into the director’s chair for this high-spirited comedy.

Auditions will be held at the TheatreWorks theater on Monday, January 3, and Tuesday, January 4, from 7 to 9 pm. Age ranges for the men are 16 to late 30s, women 30s to 60s. The role of 16-year old Kimberly is played by an older actress (50-plus).

All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. The audition will consist of readings from the script. No appointments are necessary.

TheatreWorks offers a stipend to all performers, technicians and directors.  For character breakdowns and directions visit www.TheatreWorks.us

Rehearsals will begin in mid-January and will usually run Monday through Thursday evenings. Performances will begin Friday, February 18, and run through March 19 on weekends.

TheatreWorks New Milford is an award-winning, volunteer professional non-Equity theatre company at 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to M&B’s IGA) in New Milford.
