Robert G. Hugo
Robert G. Hugo, 72, of Bethel, formerly of West Haven, Woodbridge, and Norwalk, died on December 18Â at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Crowley) Hugo.
Robert was born in New Haven, February 18, 1932, the son of the late Philip C. and Alice E. (Golden) Hugo.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Robert is survived by his daughter, Mary H. Nielson and her husband Peter Allen Nielson of Newtown; one grandson, Steven Nielson; and one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his sons John J. Hugo and Robert G. Hugo, Jr, and brother, Philip C. Hugo, Jr.
Robert was raised and educated in West Haven, graduating from West Haven High School Class of 1949. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Bremerton. Robert later attended the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1956 with a bachelor of arts in English Literature.
Robert was co-proprietor of New England Business Forms Inc of Hamden, and worked as a forms systems designer for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. He had been a resident of Bethel since 1967.
An active member of the Bethel Democratic party, Robert served on the Bethel Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Finance, and Wetlands Commission. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Danbury, and a parishioner of St Mary Church, Bethel.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 22 at St Mary Church, Bethel. Burial was in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
