Garner Inmate Arrested On Assault Charges

State police said they arrested a Garner Correctional Institution inmate on the morning of December 16 in connection with his alleged assault against a correction officer and a counselor at the high security prison on Nunnawauk Road.

State police said they charged inmate Luis Sanchez, 29, with two counts of assault on a correction officer and also with interfering with police.

Sanchez is serving a ten-year sentence in Garner on a first degree sexual assault conviction, according to the state Department of Correction.

Sanchez was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on December 17 to answer to the charges lodged by state police on the preceding day.
