Christmas Eve services will be at 5:30 for the Children’s Pageant, 7:30 and 11 for the Candlelight services. Rev Steve Gordon and Rev Janice Touloukian will be presiding at the later services. The Whitechapel Bell Choir, the Ringers in Faith, will play “Silent Night” at the 11 service and the Adult Choir will sing, “Angels’ Carol,” directed by Mary Andreotta. The Ringers in Faith are directed by Carole Andrews and Gale Whitford. Christmas memories will be shared by Pat Soomaa at the 7:30 service and by Dr Robert Touloukian at the 11 service.  Rev Touloukian will be preaching at the Sunday, December 26, service at 10 am. Rev Gordon will be assisting. There will be no Sunday School.

There will be two Christmas Eve services on Friday, December 24, at 5:30 and 7 in Alumni Hall on the campus of Western Connecticut State University. The services will celebrate through the Gospel stories of Jesus’ birth and contemporary readings, and through music by our very own UUCD Quartet (congregants Catie Gormley Berg, Doug Miller, Barbara Myers-Letson, and Charlie Schott) and congregational singing — the spark of divinity to be found in all of our children. The 5:30 service will be conducted by the Rev Linda Hansen and Director of Religious Education Mary Collins, and will include elements for children. Infants are welcome at the 5:30 service; there will be no separate child care. The service will be preceded by carols beginning at 4:45. The 7 service will be led by Linda Hansen and shaped more for youth and adults. There will be ONE Sunday service on December 26 at 10 am. Congregant Marcia Brooker will lead “What’s Next?” Members of the congregation will be invited to share some of their thoughts as we take a look at the day after the hustle and busyness of the Christmas holiday. There will be no religious education or childcare for young children that day.

A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 7:30 on Friday, December 24. The sermon is entitled “For Unto Us A Child Is Born.” The scriptures are Isaiah 9:2–7 and Luke 2:1–20. A Wassail Bowl with the wonderful smells of its mulled cider and Christmas cookies will be served after the service. Child care is provided during worship at 10 am and the Sunday School time. For the first Sunday after Christmas, the morning message will be a Christmas Story. The scripture lessons will be Isaiah 63:7–9 and Matthew 2:13–23. Fellowship and coffee hour will be at 11 am. There will be no Sunday school for children or adult Christian education class today. Child care is provided during the worship service. The adult mid-week Bible study will restart on the Tuesday evening after New Year’s, 7:30 to 9 pm.
