Police Urge Caution In Package Delivery To Prevent Theft
Police ask that residents be vigilant during he holiday season in reporting any suspicious activity that they see to police to aid police in preventing crimes and also in solving crimes after they occur.
Police urge that residents designate a secure location at their homes for the placement of delivered packages from United Parcel Service, Federal Express, and other delivery services, when there is no one at home to accept those delivered packages.
Police note that thieves who intend to steal delivered packages during the holiday season may do so right after such deliveries are made to properties.
In order to prevent the theft of packages, police urge that residents consider some alternatives for package deliveries.
Such alternatives include having packages delivered to a stay-at-home neighbor, having packages delivered to a workplace, or having packages delivered to some alternate location where is person is present to accept delivery, police said in a statement.
